Managing Tasks

Edit, delete, and complete tasks

Editing tasks

You can edit task details from the task drawer. To open it, click on any task. Here’s what the task drawer should look like:

Task drawer

From top to bottom, here are the task options you can change from the task drawer:

Changing the name

This feature is rather easy to miss as there is no button that is labeled as such. However, hovering the mouse over the black strip at the top of the task drawer, as shown below, will reveal a textbox. Alternatively, both in “Tiles View” and “List View” you can change the name by double-clicking the task’s name

Textbox

To actually edit the name, you will need to click in that area.

Changing the name

Press Enter or click outside the textbox to save the changes.

Project and task groups

In the Project section of the task drawer, you will find the project (marked by a colored circle in front of it) and the task group (marked by a folder icon in front of it) the task belongs to.

Group and Project

The best way to explain the benefit of having task groups as an intermediate between the tasks themselves and the project would be through the following analogy: Imagine the project as being a game in development. In this case, the task groups would be broad aspects of the game, such as the user interface, while the individual task that belongs to this task group can be called somewhere along the lines of “Designing the main menu UI”.

Clicking on either the task group or the project will cause two things to happen:

  1. A dropdown will appear, containing the task groups or projects that have been created.
  2. The project/group name will be replaced by a search bar.

Note that the dropdown from the task group will also contain the option to unassign the task from the group, without assigning it to another.

Description and attachments

To add a description, all you must do is go to the “Description” section and click on Add description, as shown below: Description box

We’ve talked about the rest in detail in these tutorials:

Innitial top bar Upon doing so, the button’s text will change to “Task Completed”. Task completed If you forgot about one aspect of the task, don’t worry. All you have to do is click that button again, and the task’s status will revert to being uncompleted. Alternatively, this can also be done from the dashboard, as follows:
